The start-of-year handover for society committees — funding, safeguarding, event insurance, and how to reach the council when something goes wrong.
Every September the council meets the incoming committees of Malaysian societies across the UK and Ireland. The session exists because society leadership turns over completely each year, and institutional memory otherwise turns over with it.
This year's welcome covered the four things new committees most often discover late: what the council funds and what it does not, the safeguarding expectations that come with running open events, event insurance and venue liability, and the escalation route when a member is in difficulty.
Committees that could not attend can request the pack; the Regional Office holds a copy for each region.
